Summary: VikingShare does not collect, store or share any personal data. All transfers happen exclusively within your local network and are encrypted with TLS 1.3.
1. Data we collect
VikingShare does not collect any personal data. The app works entirely within your local network. No information is sent to any external server.
2. Local network
VikingShare uses your local network (WiFi/Ethernet) exclusively to discover other devices running VikingShare and transfer content between them. Bonjour/mDNS protocol is used for discovery. No data leaves your local network.
3. Transfers
All transferred content (files, text, clipboard, images) travels encrypted with TLS 1.3 with mutual authentication via certificates. Transfers go directly between devices without any intermediary server.
4. Security
VikingShare implements a per-device trust system:
- New devices require manual approval before they can send content
- You can mark devices as favorites (auto-accept), known, or blocked
- Each device generates a unique certificate used for mutual authentication
5. Local storage
VikingShare stores locally on your device:
- A unique device identifier (locally generated UUID)
- Your chosen display name for the device
- The list of trusted devices and their certificates
- Your preferred download directory
- Recent transfer history
All this information remains exclusively on your device and is not synced with any server.
6. Third-party services
VikingShare does not use any third-party services: no analytics, no advertising SDKs, no trackers, no crash reporting services. The app works completely independently.
7. Internet connection
VikingShare does not require an internet connection. It works exclusively on your local network. You don't even need internet access for your devices to discover each other and share content.
8. Clipboard
When you share your clipboard, VikingShare accesses your device's clipboard content only at the moment you choose to share it. It does not monitor or access the clipboard in the background.
9. Children's privacy
VikingShare is suitable for all ages (4+). Since it does not collect any data, it complies with all children's privacy regulations including COPPA.
10. Your rights
Since we do not collect any personal data, there is no data to request, modify or delete. If you uninstall the app, all local information is automatically deleted.
